The RA NA Standing Committee on Health and Social Affairs discussed the draft law “On Making Amendments to the Law on Temporary Disability and Maternity Benefits” authored by “My Step” faction deputies Gevorg Papoyan and Heriknaz Tigranyan on May 20 in the second reading.
The draft envisages a change in the procedure for providing maternity leave, according to which the procedure is simplified and clarified for the cases when the mother has not worked in the same workplace for 12 months before receiving the benefit. In that case, mother will receive the amount due.
The draft also proposes that in case of non-attendance at work due to illness or care, the citizen will receive 80% of the salary from the first day. It should be noted that according to the current legislation, when a citizen is unable to report for work due to various reasons, such as illness, care, he is not paid for the first day, he receives 80% for the other days.
The initiative was discussed in the first reading and adopted in early May.
