Armella Shakaryan has been appointed RA Ambassador to Mexico

On January 27, RA President Armen Sargsyan, based on the RA Prime Minister’s proposal, signed a decree, according to which Armella Shakaryan was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the United Mexican States (residence in Mexico).

 

Attached to the decree is information on Armella Shakaryan’s education and work activities.

Armella Shakaryan was born in 1972.

 

Education and training

 

2005 ․ Institute for Diplomatic Studies (Cairo, Egypt)

2000 ․ Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Boston, USA)

1990-1996 YSU Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology.

 

Work activity:

 

1995-1997 Yerevan Planning Institute, translator,

1997-1999 Attaché of the US-Canada Division of the US Department of State,

1999-2000 3rd Secretary of the US-Canada Division of the US Department of State,

2001-2004 Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles, Consul,

2004-2006 Second Secretary of the UN Division of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia

2006-2010 Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the USA, Consul,

2013-2015 1st Secretary of the UN Division of the Department of International Organizations of the RA MFA,

2015-2018 1st Secretary of the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles,

2018-2021 Head of the US and Canada Division of the US Department of State for American Countries.

2021 On January 27, 2006, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia she was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the United Mexican States (residence in Mexico City).

 

Knowledge of foreign languages:

Russian, English.

 

Marital status:

She has three children.

It should be noted that so far women represent Armenia in seven countries: Canada, Belgium, Indonesia, Argentina, Italy, France, and Brazil. With the appointment of Armella Shakaryan, their number was increased by one, but the number of female ambassadors remains more than modest, amounting to only 8%.
